Hello everybody I am Alma White, and I am a 5th grader from Laurel, NE. I participate in basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, 4-H, piano, and I play flute in our school band. I was a final candidate in the Nebraska Kid Governor Election, and I will be serving as Charlie’s 2026 Cabinet member. I will serve one year as Charlie’s Cabinet member. I will serve as a cabinet member with Eila Rohlfsen, Kenzlie Reed, Reid Maulsby, Victoria Vargas, and Will Milliken. I am so excited to get to know everybody!
The community issue I ran on was on Providing Essentials for Students.
My three point plan is simple:
- Talk to schools and try to put a food pantry in schools across Nebraska.
- Have a school drive for coats and winter gear so kids across Nebraska won’t be cold in winter. As well as other needed clothing.
- Have families donate essential items (like tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) to schools across Nebraska so kids can have items whenever they need it.
This community issue is important to me because I see many people in my own community that need essential items. I think that basic items like food, winter gear, and essential hygiene items are something that you should not go without. This can impact our community, people all around the world struggle. So many people struggle with hunger, not the proper winter gear, and not enough essential items. I realize that I am very fortunate to have essential items and I want to help by giving back to those that are not as fortunate. This is why I have chosen to raise awareness for these things!
I feel honored to represent my school as well as the state of Nebraska for this task. I’m looking forward to the year.
